���ϲ����� is delivering its first bi-articulated buses in Brazil to the city of Curitiba, which pioneered Bus Rapid Transit Systems in the 1970s and became a model for modern urban public transport systems throughout the world.

Curitiba has recently initiated a programme to renew its BRT bus fleet, and the 27-metre long ���ϲ����� buses are being customised to meet the city public transport authority’s requirements. They will be delivered to Viação Cidade Sorriso, a local operator that is now starting to renew its fleet of 246 buses.

The Curitiba bus system encompasses 80 kilometres of busways. Some 80 percent of travellers use the system, carrying more than half a million passengers per day.

Offering the best product at the lowest cost

“The trials that we carried out with ���ϲ�����’s bi-articulated bus gave excellent results,” says Mauricio Gulin, President of Viação Cidade Sorriso. “We also believe that competition between bi-articulated bus manufacturers helps foster our aim of offering bus passengers the best product at the lowest cost.”

The ���ϲ����� F 360 HA, with a Caio body, is equipped with a 360 hp engine and develops 1,850 Nm of torque at low engine speeds to save fuel. The vehicle has an 8×2 configuration with a load capacity of 43.5 tonnes, the heaviest on the market. The front engine gives better accessibility between the three bus sections for a total passenger capacity of 160.
